Dante devices are equipped with a very high-quality Voltage-Controlled Crystal Oscillator (VCXO) clock, which ensures precise timing and stability. These devices maintain synchronization with each other across the network by utilising the IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP), a standard designed to provide highly accurate time coordination. Within this network, one device is designated as the Leader Clock, serving as the primary timing reference to which all other devices synchronize their clocks. This selection of the Leader Clock occurs automatically by default, eliminating the need for any manual configuration or intervention to assign the role, thereby simplifying the setup process and ensuring seamless operation.
