Most Dante audio networking devices support Gigabit Ethernet (1 Gbps). For best performance and reliability, we recommend using:
- CAT5e or CAT6 – Ideal for most Dante networks and fully supports Gigabit speeds
- CAT6a or CAT7 – Suitable for higher-performance installations, longer cable runs, or environments with increased electrical interference
- CAT5 – Can be used for legacy or 100 Mbps networks, but is not recommended for modern Dante systems
In general, CAT5e or better is the standard choice for new installations. Higher-category cables (CAT6a/CAT7) can offer improved shielding and headroom, but won’t typically provide additional benefit unless your network demands it.
