Devices enrolled in Dante Domain Manager (DDM) only show in Dante Controller when Dante Controller is logged in to the DDM server and the correct domain is selected.
Using Dante Director? See Why can’t I see my devices in Dante Controller after they are enrolled in Dante Director?
Device not showing in DDM either? See DDM: Dante devices not appearing in DDM.
Logging in to DDM from Dante Controller
- In Dante Controller, click the Domain Configuration button.
- In the DDM User Login box, click DDM Server Connection.
- If your network uses DNS, choose Auto Discovery and click OK. Otherwise, choose Manual and enter the DDM server’s host name (e.g. ddm.local) or IP address. Then enter the port number and click Use This Server. The port is 8443 unless your network administrator has configured a different one.
- In the DDM User Login tab, enter your DDM username and password and click Connect.
- Once you’re connected, the login tab closes. Select the domain you want from the Domain drop-down at the top right of the screen.
Note: When the
<unmanaged>domain is selected, Dante Controller only shows unenrolled devices on the local subnet.
If you see an error when logging in, see Dante Controller: DDM login errors.
Devices show as online in DDM but don’t appear in the domain in Dante Controller
If DDM shows a device as online but it’s missing from the domain in Dante Controller, check the following:
- Domain selection: make sure the domain selected in Dante Controller is the one the device is enrolled in.
- User permissions: make sure your DDM user account has been given a role on that domain. You only see the domains your account has access to.
- Refresh the view: log out of DDM in Dante Controller and log back in, or restart Dante Controller. This is especially worth doing after enrolling devices or changing domain settings if seeing issues.
- Network interface: make sure Dante Controller is using the network interface connected to the Dante network.
- Firewall and antivirus: make sure security software on the computer isn’t blocking Dante Controller or its background services (Dante Discovery and Dante Control and Monitoring).
- DDM server IP changes or High Availability: enrolled devices keep a record of the DDM server’s IP address. If that address changes, the devices may show as offline or disconnected. For High Availability, this includes enrolling against a standalone node’s IP instead of the cluster’s Virtual IP. To fix this, unenroll and re-enrol the affected devices. With High Availability, always set up the cluster first and enrol devices against the Virtual IP. See Device Enrollment Known Issues.
- Redundant devices on DDM 1.7: if you use device redundancy (for example QSC Core redundancy or RTS frame redundancy), DDM 1.7 can show different online states in Dante Controller and the DDM web interface. Upgrade to the latest DDM version. This has been fixed in DDM 1.8, so ensure the Latest DDM is running.
Device appears grey in Dante Controller’s Routing tab - Unmanaged
A greyed-out device is enrolled in a DDM domain that it can no longer reach. This can happen when the device has moved to a different network, the DDM server is no longer available, or the device was enrolled in a different DDM.
To clear the enrolment:
- In Dante Controller, double-click the device to open Device View.
- Select Devices > Clear Domain Credentials.
- If you see “Device is not enrolled”, go to the Device Config tab and click Clear Config instead, then reboot the device.
The device then returns to the <unmanaged> domain, and you can enrol it again if needed. If the DDM server is permanently unavailable, see DDM: Unenrolling Dante Devices When DDM Is No Longer Available (Lonely Reset).
Still having problems?
Contact Audinate Support and include:
- Your DDM version, plus the DDM logs and configuration backup (downloaded from the DDM web interface) > Updates and System Information tab
- Your Dante Controller version, with screenshots showing the domain view
- A screenshot or CSV export of the device list from the DDM web interface
- A simple network diagram showing where DDM, the Dante Controller computer and the devices sit
