Symptoms
On macOS 15 or 26, Dante Updater or Dante Controller finds no devices (or only some) when opened normally, but works when launched from Terminal. Dante Updater shows "No devices found on en0. Do you want to change the network interface?"
Cause
This is a known macOS bug. macOS sometimes doesn't apply an app's Local Network permission, even when System Settings shows it as allowed. Apps launched from Terminal use Terminal's permission instead, so they work. Reinstalling doesn't help, because macOS keeps the old permission entry.
How to fix it
- Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network. Turn the Dante app off, then on, and relaunch it. Repeat after a restart if needed.
- Delete any other copies of the app (for example in Downloads or on a mounted installer disk image), restart the Mac, and open the app from Applications.
- Turn off Wi-Fi and any network interfaces you don't use for Dante.
- Update to the latest version of macOS.
If none of these work, launch the app from Terminal and leave the window open:
- Dante Updater:
/Applications/Dante\ Updater.app/Contents/MacOS/nwjs - Dante Controller:
/Applications/Dante\ Controller.app/Contents/MacOS/Dante\ Controller
