Device Lock in Dante Controller protects a supported device with a 4-digit PIN. A locked device keeps passing audio and can still be monitored, but you can’t change its subscriptions or settings until it’s unlocked. To see which devices support it, check the Device Lock column on the Device Info tab. Unsupported devices show “N/A”.
Lock a device
- Open the device in Device View (double click on the device) and click the padlock icon on the top bar.
- Enter a 4-digit PIN, then enter it again to confirm.
- Click Lock.
Unlock a device
Click the padlock icon again, enter the PIN and click Unlock.
Recover a lost PIN
- Isolate the device from the rest of the Dante network. You can unplug every other Dante device, connect the device straight to your computer, or put the device and your computer on their own VLAN. Also stop Dante Virtual Soundcard and Dante Via, if they’re running on your computer.
- Disconnect the device, reconnect it, and wait at least 2 minutes.
- Open the Unlock Device panel, click Forgot PIN, then click Reset.
The device is now unlocked, and you can lock it again with a new PIN.
Effect on routing
Subscriptions that existed before you locked a transmitter keep working, but nothing new can subscribe to it until it’s unlocked.
