This article covers errors you might see when logging in to Dante Domain Manager (DDM) from Dante Controller. For the login steps, see DDM: Cannot see enrolled devices in Dante Controller.
Using Dante Director? See I can’t access Dante Director using Dante Controller (“policy error: Check username and password”).
For the full list of ports DDM uses, see Which network ports does Dante use?
“Connection Refused: Incorrect address or it may not be running”
Dante Controller couldn’t reach the DDM server on the configured address and port.
- Check that the DDM server name or IP address and the port (8443 by default) are correct in the DDM Server Connection tab.
- Check that DDM is running and that you can open its web interface from the same computer.
- Make sure no firewall or network ACL is blocking TCP 8443 (Controller login) between the computer and the DDM server.
“Unable to Connect”
Dante Controller reached DDM, but the connection couldn’t be completed.
- Make sure no firewall or network ACL is blocking TCP 8001 (Controller communications) between the DDM server and the Dante Controller computer.
- In the DDM web interface, check the dashboard for any services reported as stopped.
“Unable to connect: Check domain manager”
- Re-enter your DDM username and password.
- Check that the Dante Controller computer can reach the DDM server (for example, by pinging it).
- Check the DDM status in its web interface.
- If you use High Availability, check whether a failover has happened.
Security software blocking the connection
Network security or web-filtering software on the computer (for example endpoint firewalls or VPN clients) can block or intercept the connection between Dante Controller and DDM. If the address, port and credentials are all correct, temporarily disable that software or ask your IT team to allow traffic to the DDM server, then try again.
Can’t connect while the computer has a link-local address
From Dante Controller 4.13 onwards, you can’t connect to DDM while the computer has a link-local (169.254.x.x) address. Give the computer a valid IP address on your network (static or via DHCP).
Auto Discovery doesn’t find the DDM server
- Switch to Manual and enter the DDM server’s IP address and port.
- If you want to use Auto Discovery, check the DNS-SD setup:
- The controller SRV record
default._dante-ddm-c._tcp.<your domain>must exist and point to the DDM server on port 8443. - The computer’s DNS search domain must match that domain.
- See Setting Up DNS Discovery.
- The controller SRV record
