In Dante Via, system sounds (such as error and email notifications) and audio from other running applications are part of the default mix. The default mix plays to your default output device unless you send another source to that device.
Your default output device shows "Default Device" under its name in the Destinations panel. You can change it in General Preferences.
How do I mute or unmute system sounds?
- In the Destinations panel, find your default output device.
- In its "Now Receiving" area, hover over the System Sounds icon.
- Click the speaker icon to mute system sounds. Click it again to unmute them.
You can also replace the default mix completely by sending another source to your default output device.
I've lost my system sounds. How do I get them back?
If another source is playing to your default output device, it replaces the default mix, so you won't hear system sounds. To restore them:
- In the "Now Receiving" area of the default output device, hover over each source playing to it.
- Click the red X icon to remove it.
When no other sources are sent to the device, it plays the default mix again, including your system sounds. If you still can't hear them, check that system sounds aren't muted (see above).
